Accuracy of Thermometer

Accuracy of Thermometer
Infrared thermometer are known for their accuracy and angular coverage . The measurement error of simpler instruments is around ±2℃/±4℉) .

According to Mr. Stefan Boltzmann Law, radiant power is proportional to the fourth power of temperature , so when he measurement surface has both hot and cold areas , the indicated temperature may be higher than the actual average temperature and closer to fourth power mean average.

Types Of Infrared Temperature Sensor/ Infrared Thermometer
1) Spot Infrared Thermometer or Infrared pyrometer
2) Infrared Scanning Systems
3) Infrared Thermal Imaging Cameras or Infrared Cameras

Here , is some information about the types of infrared temperature sensor / infrared thermometer so that everyone can get basic idea about them .

1) Spot Infrared Thermometer or Infrared pyrometer :- It is that type of thermometer or pyrometer which measures the temperature at a spot on the surface or we can say that a relatively small area determined by the D:S ratio.

2) Infrared Scanning Systems :- Basically it is a system which helps to scan a larger area , typically by what is essentially a spot thermometer pointed at a rotating mirror .

3) Infrared Thermal Imaging Cameras or Infrared Cameras :- Basicaly It is a infrared radiation thermometer which are used to measure the temperature at many points over a relatively large area which are beneficial in generating two dimensional image known as Themogram with each pixel representing a temperature .
